Statistics
Evangelical Christians ages 50-64 represent 29% of the total and Evangelical Christians ages 65+ represent 20% of the total. So essentially there are roughly 49% or just under 9 million Evangelical Christians who are 50 years of age or older with the median age being 56.
Statistics show that volunteering by adults over 45 years of age actually decreases as age increases which begs the question as to why? These numbers would seem to contradict the the common stereotype we have of older people; that during the period of life as people age, and their kids move out of the house, and they eventually retire, they have more time and more of an expendable income which would allow them to volunteer more.
Many of these individuals have a lifetime of skill and experience that is mostly untapped in the church, and community at large. But just imagine the impact such a group of focused and committed Seasoned Servants could have on the people and churches in our communities… the possibilities are amazing!
